The NOT to do list

The NOT to do list

At the start of every year, every quarter, every month, every week and every day we are frantically putting together to do lists. The idea is simple, listing things that need to be done in order of priority. It works, until our list becomes too long and we physically can’t get everything done.

Recently I’ve come across a NOT to do list, which is actually more powerful than the to do list. The purpose of this list is to create a constant state of happiness, by being fully present and living in the moment. People who are genuinely happy are healthier, kinder and have better relationships.

The first thing I’ll put on my to do list every day, will be remind myself the NOT to do list and take a minute to read through these 20 ideas:

  1. Do not ignore strangers
  2. Do not expect anything in return for giving
  3. Do not doubt yourself
  4. Do not ignore your heart
  5. Do not take things personally
  6. Do not believe that your fear is real
  7. Do not hold grudges
  8. Do not body bash yourself or others
  9. Do not try to change others, but accept people for who they are
  10. Do not feel obligated to do things you don’t want to
  11. Do not ignore your instincts
  12. Do not resist change
  13. Do not stay in a situation that no longer serves you…ever
  14. Do not look outside yourself to be happy
  15. Do not ignore your dreams and inner desires
  16. Don’t consider yourself broken or think that you need to be fixed
  17. Do not judge others
  18. Do not complain
  19. Do not avoid risk
  20. Do not blame others, but instead take full responsibility of your life

  3. And to finish it. Well thought out. I’m hanging it!

  4. Well said, I’m hanging when my new yoga studio opens
