Motivation equals success… The only difference between the successful and unsuccessful in life or in business or in marketing is that the successful carry on when the unsuccessful throw their hands up in the air and give up.
Unfortunately motivation isn’t something that comes naturally and will stay with us forever. It is something that comes and goes and something that we need to work on every day. Sometimes it is hard to stay motivated over a longer period of time, but here some tips and tricks that I’ve picked up along the way to not get distracted and keep going…day in day out.
Have a positive attitude and reward yourself
It all starts with being positive and believing in your own strengths, even when things are tough. Try to wake up with a positive attitude and a feeling that you are going to work to bring you closer to your goal.
For me it really works to write down one thing I want to achieve that day and then at the end of the day evaluate and write down one achievement that I am really happy with. It doesn’t matter how big or small it is, it just helps to keep motivated.
Get up early and do something good for you
The early morning is full of potential and vitality. Seeing the sunrise and doing something for you before you get into your daily routine is very nourishing. It can be anything from exercise to relaxation, anything that makes you feel good.
The early morning is my absolute favourite time of the day. I get up early, I meditate, I do yoga while I watch the sunrise, I occasionally have a dip in the ocean and I mentally set myself up for a good day.
Ride the momentum when it comes
Sometimes we are in the flow and sometimes we are not. Accept that we are not always at our top. Sometimes we are just not, that’s what life is about. When we are in the flow and motivation is big, we should embrace it and ride that wave.
This one was a quite a hard one for me to accept, but slowly I am getting better at this. I am trying to ride the motivational wave when the momentum is there and try to accept it when the momentum isn’t there. I then try to use that time for rest and reflection instead of pushing through.
Feed your mind with good materials
Read good books, listen to great music, have uplifting conversations with people around you and spend time in nature.
This is our ticket to do things that we really enjoy and get rid of the feeling of guilt that we are not doing or working enough. After any of these uplifting activities, I always feel fuelled again and ready to go.
If you have any other tips that work for you, I would love to hear from you. Please leave them at the bottom of this post.Tags: business success, motivation
