We live in a world with information overload. The internet is becoming more and more crowded. We get more and more messages thrown at us via all different types of media channels and it seems like there is less and less downtime.
The upside is that we have many more communication tools available to get in contact with our potential clients and customers, but the new challenge is to break through the clutter.
How do you get cut through with your marketing message in this world that is overloaded with information?
How do you make your message stand out from the crowd?
A powerful way to do this is to make use of story telling in your marketing. Story telling will help you connect emotionally with your consumers. The aim is to intrigue, engage and connect with them. You do this by speaking truthfully, ensuring that you include honesty and transparency in your stories. Infuse personality in your stories, so that they are unique to you and your business and ensure that your target market can relate to your stories. Try to take your readers on a journey by including a beginning, middle and end and focus your stories on why someone should be involved and not why someone should buy your product.
Every company has stories to tell. You just have to find them and bring them to life. You can find inspiration for your stories by listening to your clients, your staff and yourself. Think about how your business started, how it has evolved, how you’ve engaged with clients, what challenges and successes you’ve had along the way, what charities you’ve been involved in, what you’ve learned etc.
Here is a very interesting infographic about how to integrate story telling into your marketing.
