Talented women have talented children. So we were all very excited at Twinlife Marketing when we found out that Joanne Akkari’s beautiful 7 year old girl, Amelie was selected to be the voice over for the Earth Hour campaign this year. Joanne is our dedicated and passionate head of marketing consulting and also proud mum of 3 beautiful children. Amelie, her youngest and only girl, has been starring in commercials before. We’ve been following her and I’ve been joking around with the team that we all should grab Amelie’s signature while we can, but this is the first time that Amelie is part of such a worthy campaign.
Here is this year’s Earth Hour Promotional video with Amelie’s voice:
The Earth Hour story
Earth Hour was designed to draw attention to tackling global warming and get people talking about what we can do to help.
I think it’s fantastic to see how this grassroots marketing campaign got so much traction, not only in Australia, but around the world.
Earth Hour launched in Sydney in 2007, with 2.2 million people and 2,100 businesses participating in the ‘lights off’ event. Just one year later, Earth Hour became a global phenomenon with over 35 countries participating, and an estimated 50-100 million people.
In 2014, Earth Hour was celebrated in over 162 countries and over 7000 cities and towns worldwide.
Organise your own Earth Hour event
This year, Earth Hour will take place upcoming Saturday, March 28th from 8.30pm – 9.30pm. There will be many events and Earth Hour dinners taking place. Or why not organise your own candlelit dinner, or even better organise a candle party. I know just the right person who can help you out with this. Wendy the candle lady is extremely passionate about candles and knows how to organise a great party. To find out more about her, please visit http://www.wendythecandlelady.com/
