10 Years of Graciously Giving & Receiving

Where has the time gone? I can’t believe it is already 10 years since I stepped out of the corporate world and founded Twinlife Marketing. I’ve never worked for the same company, let alone the same boss for 10 years. How did this happen? I must have a good boss?! Well, she was a bit of a nightmare in the beginning, but has calmed down a lot, which has made the whole experience far more enjoyable. You can read more about this a bit further down.

I still remember the very early days…they were full of excitement and challenges, working out our service offering, trying to get our first clients on board, building our own website and figuring out how to make this business work within 3 days a week, while also looking after my then 15 month old twin boys. I’ll never forget the amazing feeling and the boost of confidence I got when I managed to get our first ever client on board. Yes, I can do this!

One thing was very clear to me. I wanted a business that was founded on the principle of open, trusting, win-win relationships, hence the name Twinlife. Twins are truly better because they are together and I really think that all of us crave a sense of belonging and benefit from having a great community around us.

It felt so right to me then and I still feel absolutely aligned with this now. Looking back, I am very proud of the beautiful relationships we’ve built up over the years with our loyal clients, consultants and marketing partners. I get really excited about the power of collaboration, as we can tap into our different skills, insights and experiences to create real change and success. We are so much stronger together!

The 3 values that underpin everything we do, from building our relationships to the way we work and the way we do marketing have also stayed exactly the same since day one. These values are being truthful, inspirational and practical. Everything we say and do has to feel right, bring positive energy and of course has to be sensible. I use these values as a guide and they bind us together.

Obviously, the marketing world has changed dramatically over the past 10 years and it’s been both exciting and sometimes challenging to keep up with all the changes – thank you to my team for continuously sharing and learning.

I really think that the biggest challenge for marketers nowadays is to choose the most relevant activities to focus on consistently and ongoingly, without getting distracted by all the ‘red shiny balls’, as I call them. In my opinion, marketing has always been and will always be about creating a two-way engaging relationship with your ideal target market. No matter what technology we are using or what product or service we are offering, in the end it boils down to a human-to-human connection.

I really enjoy working with our team, helping our clients with their marketing strategies and plans and then bringing them to life. I get the most satisfaction out of transferring marketing knowledge and skills. There is nothing better than leading and guiding internal teams, setting them up for long-term success. When they get it, when they understand the value, the why and how behind marketing and have the confidence to implement the right strategies and activities, they are truly empowered to thrive, shine and succeed, not only today, but also tomorrow and many more days after tomorrow.

To thrive, shine and succeed, you have to embrace the darkness as well. All of us have both light and dark inside of us. Becoming aware of my darkness and my rigidity, trying out different things, falling down and standing up again and most importantly deciding to act on my lightness has probably been the biggest gift that Twinlife has given me.

I was quite uptight, driven and critical when I started out. Through various experiences and quite a lot of soul searching as you can read in digging deep, I have really gotten to know myself (the good, the bad and the ugly) and have come back to my inner being.

We’ve had a great relationship over the past 10 years, helping Graham and his team with their marketing and enjoying their beautiful portrait photography.

I’ve turned into a far calmer, more relaxed person. Instead of being anxious and stressed, I am now more often (not always yet, as it is still a daily practice) calm and relaxed.

I’ve learned to not be attached to the outcome, accept the situation and not react straight away. I’ve learned to become more present, enjoying and appreciating each and every moment. I’ve learned to become more by doing less.  

I’ve learned to nurture myself and put well-being first. I have learned to quiet down the mind and tap into the intelligence field of our body & soul. I’ve learned to listen to my intuition.

I’ve found my inner child again and learned to become more playful, joyful, laugh and not take life too seriously. I feel free and I’ve learned to graciously give and receive and find joy in the journey.

It’s been such a pleasure and honour to 
work with Graeme and the Tecpro team over the past 10 years.

I feel that I’ve come full circle. The original principle, values and offering of Twinlife are still the same, however I feel that I’ve become a better person, not only for myself, but also for the people around me and the people that I work with. We’ve also grown and become a whole lot stronger as a team. I am very content, fulfilled and know that I am exactly where I need to be.

So, what’s next? I don’t have any big goals for the next 10 years, however I do have a very clear intention, which I think is far more powerful.

My intention is to keep making the most out of every day, by being as present as I can be in every moment, fully alive, fully aware, with my total being (mind, body & soul).

I remind myself daily that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is life’s sweetest creation.

I love the marketing leadership work that we do and am looking forward to creating many more meaningful connections with clients, consultants, partners and other great people over the next 10 years!
